World Peace Gathering 2025

Venerable Hang Truong is one of the influential Vietnamese monks in Vietnamese communities worldwide. Born in Vietnam, grew up during the war, educated in the United States, ordained under the Chinese tradition, and educated in the Dharma under the direct tutelage of Master Hsuan Hua, the world’s enlightened Master of the Chinese Zen lineage, Master Hang Truong has worked and served multi-ethnic communities across Asia, America and Europe. He is well known for his holistic, integral approach to modernizing and integrating Buddhism into the fast-changing world. The Master embodies, teaches, and lives by multicultural, multi-disciplined, global-centric values.

At temples, the prayers for peace and healing and prayers for the deceased only require the monk to chant the sutra and read the names of those who need these prayers. At the mandala, each spirit or person needing a prayer has a plaque, symbolizing the body, with the name of the spirit or person. In the peace and liberation prayer ceremony, all plaques will be guided through the five skandhas and brought into the circle of liberation, where the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas will guide the spirits and their karmic obstacles towards the light.

Symbolizing the body of a spirit or a person needing prayers for peace, each plaque has the name and age of each spirit or person receiving the prayers.

Please visit the reception desk during the Dharma Assembly to receive the plaques for the peace and liberation prayers. All plaques are completely free of charge.
